Reflection For The Week

If we look through the Gospel we will see how Christ practised this unselfish giving. He mingled with, and bestowed himself on, those who had nothing to give him in return. Nor did he ask for anything. The Good Shepherd is happy when he has found the lost sheep, no matter what hardships he suffered in searching for it. He is happy when, as a result of His loving care, the sheep are thriving. He does not think of himself.

Happy are we if we reach the stage where giving has become part of our nature. To give is not a luxury for the Christian. It is our first and fundamental duty as followers of Christ. It is something so obvious that we shouldn’t talk about it. The true Christian loves his brother and sister without expecting any reward for it.

The ideal giving is when the giver doesn’t know to whom he/ she is giving, and when the receiver doesn’t’ know from whom he/she is receiving.
