Reflection For The Week

This week’s primary text is about responding to God’s call upon our lives. The primary call as Jesus highlights in the healing of the crippled woman in the gospel text is to bring about freedom, wholeness, healing– salvation. The Jeremiah text and the Psalm for the week both highlight God’s providence and promise to be with us. While sometimes this presence of God is not easily detectable it is sufficient for the Christian to hold on to the promise and walk with faith.

This week presents itself as a good week to encourage people in different vocations, those wrestling with their call and those who have been bent over by oppressive systems. The call to pull down, destroy and plant and build suggests that being a prophet and a Christian is being involved with the constant work of healing and transformation.
